When a press release arrives in your inbox containing the words “intergalactic cyber dragon”, it’s pretty hard to ignore. So here we are, sharing the news that XenoRaptor is launching for Nintendo Switch on Christmas Day.
A “frantic and frenzied” twin-stick shooter, this game pits heavily armed space dragons against an interstellar armada. You’ll need to take any parts you can get your hands on from defeating your enemies to assemble the ultimate weapon, and it seems like you’ll have plenty of different ways to do just that. We’re talking evasive teleporting, defensive mines, railguns, tractor beams, and even mind control.
Here’s a feature list:
– Arm your cyberdragon with various hulls and engines, and weapons such as lightning shotguns, laser nukes, ghost missiles, and more
– Face the might of a space skeleton armada and defeat screen-filling bosses
– Strategically turn environmental hazards – such as asteroids, mine fields, and radioactive clouds – against your enemies
– Test your skills in the campaign, boss rush mode, and alongside friends in local co-op
XenoRaptor creator, Peter Cleary, has said that the game was inspired by titles like Geometry Wars, describing it as “a passion project aimed at blending the arsenal and enemy variety of classic FPSs with the situational awareness and intense dodging of a top-down game”.
You’ll be able to pick it up from the Nintendo Switch eShop from 25th December.
